Robert (Bob) McMasters
University of Michigan – Bachelor of Business Adminstration 1959
Bob worked with Allis Chalmers, Parker Seal and rubber seal distributors in the Detroit Metropolitan area before starting the company in 1977.
Bob was President of the Red Run Golf Club, Golf Association of Michigan and Western Golf Association on his spare time culminating a long professional and personal devotion to the golfing industry and sport.
Martin (Marty) Koss
Michigan State University – Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering 1965
Marty was a civil corps officer in the U.S. Navy Corps of Engineering at the Seebees base in Virginia
Marty worked for Standard Oil and seal distributors in the Detroit Metropolitan area before starting the McMasters Koss partnership.
A partnership ensued with strong family values throughout the organization. Many members of the families have contributed to the success of the organization and most employees have been with McMasters Koss for an average of 15 years or more
Significant Milestones include purchase of first operational building in 1982 and implementation of QS9000 Quality System in 2000.
Since that time, the McMasters Koss corporate complex encompasses 4 buildings and over 50,000 square feet for inventory, laboratory and inspection facilities.
In 2018, McMasters Koss sales surpassed $21MM and current management has invested in infrastructure and staffing to make McMasters Koss foremost in the automotive and truck rubber product and seal industry.

Paul Pirtle – Vice President and Partner
University of Michigan – Bachelor of Arts in Business
25 years experience in gasket and seal manufacturing and supply chain management. APQP trained to ensuring compliance of supply chain partners and the McMasters Koss organization as a whole. Ensuring resources are available to meet Customer needs with best practice technologies and staffing.
Peter Gibbs – Chief Engineer and Partner
University of Michigan – Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
15 Years experience in materials testing, seal design and material selection in the automotive, power and electronics industries. Leading the establishment and staffing of the McMasters Koss Engineering facility which began operations in January 2024. Implementing the McMasters Koss ISO/IEC 17025 Testing and Calibration System and scheduling for registration by 2025.
Gary Gibbs – Former President and CEO
University of Michigan – Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in engineering at United Technologies and General Motors.
Joined McMasters Koss in 1994 and became President and CEO in 2000.
Over 40 Years experience in engineering, computer science and corporate management within automotive manufacturers worldwide.
An dedicated engineering team and facilities have also been incorporated into the organization with state of the art oil seal test equipment, a tooling center and automated inspection machines for superior OEM support of zero defect APQP O-Rings and seals.
